With this week’s theme of education, the team wanted to talk about some of the things we have learned during our time in isolation.
Something we are all learning is how to adjust to a new routine. For some, that means developing a new sleep schedule, learning how to work from home, or trying to remember what day of the week it is.
For me, it’s a little bit different.
I’m learning how to go about my day-to-day without seeing the people who make experiencing the same day-to-day life exciting.
I am a very socially-driven person. If you know me, that’s not anything new. Put me in a group of people and eventually, we will become the loudest group in the room because we’re all laughing. Lately, there hasn’t been nearly as much laughter.
You know that cliché that says if you love your job, you won’t work a day in your life? I’ve been lucky enough to experience that. Last week, I mentioned that I work for the Oshawa Generals’ social media team with a very fun group of people.
We were used to spending our weekends together, running around the Tribute Communities Centre, laughing at the hilarious photos of the players we managed to capture.
Since the OHL season was cancelled a few weeks ago, I haven’t seen them. We chat every now and then, wishing the season was back.
It definitely isn’t the same.
Now, I’m not saying I haven’t learned how to live a new routine. I have experienced my fair share of late nights that I pay for the next morning. I’m learning how to work in a new space, and so far, it’s been pretty good.
I’m still learning how to make every day just as fun and full of laughter without all of the amazing people around me.
