I’m a graduating Journalism – Mass Media student at Durham College. I’ve been intrigued by storytelling from a young age, and have grown to love both writing and media over the years. English was always one of my favourite subjects as a kid and my appreciation for writing really blossomed as I grew older.
Aside from writing, I’ve always had a strong passion for music. It arose when I was a child and has grown into an undeniable love. I’m very interested in all things arts and culture, and I aspire to become a music journalist someday. I had plans to evolve in this area after graduating, but COVID-19 put those to a halt.
Since the declaration of this pandemic, my life has changed in a lot of ways. From being indoors most days, to no longer having the freedom to see my friends when I want, very few things remain the same. Our last year as journalism students was cut short, and we didn’t have the luxury of finishing our college experience the way we had planned. It’s been hard dealing with these changes – there’s no denying this. However, we hope this podcast helps ease some of your worries during these tough times.
I’ve been keeping myself busy in a few different ways. I started running again, and I’m making sure I get fresh air whenever I can. I’ve also been writing a lot and listening to music – but that’s definitely nothing new for me. Beyond these things, I’ve also started drawing again. I used to love art when I was younger, but it became one of those things I did less and less as life became busy. It’s always been one of my favourite things to do, though, especially in times of stress.
No matter what this experience has been like for you, we really hope you enjoy COVID-CATION as much as we do!
